Belagavi: Ahead of the winter session which is set to begin at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on Monday, December 10 the sugarcane growers have now launched a protest on Saturday, December 8 at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office accusing Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of failing to keep his words on waiver of farm loans.
The protestors alleged that in spite of protesting for so many days the CM has not taken the sugarcane crisis seriously. The growers are raising slogans against the JD(S)- COngress coalition government and sugar factories. They also threathned that they will continue the protest until their demands were met.
Grower’s leader Sidagouda Modagi informed that they had submitted several memoranda along with all the relevant documents on the pending dues which factories owed to growers to the DC, but no measures were taken to help them. He further added that though CM had responded to their problem none of the sugar factories followed the CM’s order.
