AI to resume BOM-IXE-BOM flights from Oct

Mangaluru: Following instructions given by union civil aviation minister Suresh P Prabhu, Air India will resume its Mumbai (BOM)-Mangaluru(IXE)-Mumbai flights from October 1st. The move comes after Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel called on Mr. Prabhu in New Delhi.
Air India had cancelled IC 1680 Mangaluru-Mumbai and IC 1679 BOM-IXE-BOM and IC 1679 Mumbai-Mangaluru flights starting July 12 up to September 30, ostensibly for Haj operations.
The MP informed the union minister that Mangaluru and Mumbai are fast growing cities and a lot of business interests in terms of major industries and software firms happen between them and also hundreds of passengers fly between the two cities daily. Additionally, passengers use BOM as a hub for their onward journey across the globe. Therefore, the reintroduction of the service is vital to the interest of all the stakeholders, explained Nalin.
In response, Mr. Prabhu directed the national carrier officials to restart the service immediately once the schedule drawn for Haj operations – a period of 81-days ended on September 30.

The MP urged Prabhu to start operations between Mangaluru and Pune explaing that the flights will help improve the connection between the two cities and help business and tourism travel increase further.
