- Enact a law on the lines of Advocates Protection Act
Mangaluru: The lawyers of the Mangalore Bar Association staged a protest in the court premises here condemning the death of fellow lawyer Ajith Naik in Dandeli, on Monday august 6th.
“Though Karwar police have arrested an accused in the murder, all the absconding accused should be captured soon and brought before the law. Increased attacks on advocates have put the fraternity in fear,” said General Secretary of Mangalore Bar Association Dinakar Shetty addressing the gathering at the protest.
“The state government should provide a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to Ajith Naik’s family and police must hold a transparent probe into the murder,” he demanded and called for the Karnataka state government to enact a law on the lines of Advocates Protection Act passed by many other states, to provide security for lawyers in the state.
