Alcoholic son stones mother to death

Dharwad: An alcoholic son enraged by his mother’s refusal to give him money to buy alcohol is said to have battered the latter to death in Yalavadala town of Kalagatigi taluk in Dharwad. 

The deceased has been recognized as Shankravva (68). According to reports, her son Veerabhadrappa (35) would regularly harass her for money to buy alcohol and the both would end up fighting over the matter.

On the day of the incident, a fight resulted between Shankravva and Veerabhadrappa. In an attack of rage, Veerabhadrappa is said to have hit his mother with a stone. He additionally attacked his wife when she tried to intervene in the fight. While Shankravva succumbed to her injuries, Veerabhadrappa’s wife sustained severe wounds and is undertaking treatment at a Hubballi hospital. 

The police have arrested Veerabhadrappa and a case has been enlisted.
