All accused in Mangaluru home stay attack case acquitted

Mangaluru: All accused in the Mangaluru home stay attack case from twelve years ago have been acquitted. The Sixth Additional District and Sessions Court in Mangaluru delivered the verdict on Tuesday, August 6.

Judge Kantaraju of the Sixth Additional District and Sessions Court stated that the lack of evidence led to the acquittal of the accused.

On July 28, 2012, the Morning Mist home stay near Padil, Mangaluru, was attacked. Activists from the Hindu Jagarana Vedike were accused of carrying out the assault. The attackers reportedly targeted young men and women who were attending a birthday party.

The Mangaluru Rural Police had filed charges against 44 individuals in connection with the attack. Among the 44 accused, three had passed away, and the case against one individual was dropped. The home stay attack case had caused significant public outcry.
