New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi on Monday in his address to the nation said that efforts were made at war-footing to fight the pandemic at various levels.

Speaking on the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the country, PM Modi said India has gone through a lot of pain during this battle and many lost their loved ones.

Talking about Covid vaccines, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India launched not one but two ‘made in India’ vaccines within a span of one year.

“Scientists of our country have shown that India is not behind big countries. Today when I am talking to you, more than 23 crore people have been vaccinated in the country,” PM Modi said.

He further added that the supply of vaccines is going to increase in the coming days.

“7 companies in the country are producing different types of vaccines. Trial of three more vaccines is also going in the advanced stage,” he claimed.

“Many states demanded vaccination to be decentralized. Some voices even questioned prioritizing certain age groups, including elderly, ” he said.

He also informed, “From June 21, all citizens above the age of 18 years will get free Covid-19 vaccines. State governments will not have to spend any amount now on vaccines, Centre will provide free jabs for everyone”

“The government has also decided to extend the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till Diwali,” said Modi.

As Delhi and Mumbai started the unlocking process Modi said, “Relaxation in Corona curfew shouldn’t make people think COVID-19 has ended. We must continue to follow COVID protocols to win this battle.”
