Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddraramaiah has organized an all party meeting in Bengaluru on January 27 to discuss the Mahadayi river water dispute. According to the sources the meeting will be held in Chief Minister’s office. The representatives of farmer’s associations are also invited to take part in the meeting.
The sharing of Mahadayi river water has caused dispute between Karnataka and Goa. The Mahadayi (called Mandovi in Goa) originates in Karnataka and flows to Goa and Maharashtra. The three states are locked in a protracted dispute over sharing its water for the last 30 years. Recent conflicts between the two states over the river water have caused enmity between the states.
In order to discuss the matter, Chief Minster has called for an all party meeting with a hope of resolving the dispute.
