Almost 30% of Walmart India senior executives fired

Gurugram: Walmart India has fired more than 100 senior executives and is planning to scale down or completely wind up its business in India claims a news report.
The firings include top executives across verticals such as agri-business, sourcing, FMCGs and the team responsible for scouting new locations for its store.
The expansion of the brick-and-mortar retail behemoth in India was getting constricted with competition from online retailers and government designing rules to protect local Kirana shops.
In April last year, Walmart had said that it wants to expand its wholesale segment by supplying goods to the small Kirana shops and double its wholesale locations in the next four years.
