Alumna of Vijayapura’s Sainik School flies in new Rafale

Vijayapura: An alumna of the Sainik School here is one of the 5 pilots flying the Rafale combat aircraft to join the country’s Air Force. This has made the school here home to celebrations.

Arunkumar was a student at the school for 7 years from 1994 – 2001.

His father, Nagendra Prasad from Rohtas in Bihar, was a Junior Air Warrant Officer in the Air Force station at Bengaluru. He studied in Bengaluru’s Kendriya Vidyalaya till class 5.

In 2001, he completed PUC in the Science stream, was selected to the National Defense Academy and joined the Indian Air Force.

Ramamurthy Gollapalli, who taught Arunkumar at the school says that Arunakumara was not only a diligent but also strong leadership qualities. He has ahead not only in studies but also in extra-curricular and cultural activities such as sports and drama. Because of his versatile talent, he was the captain of the Vijayanagara House of the school. He is now a role model for the new generation.

The present principal of the school Captain Vinay Tiwari from the Indian Navy says that they are proud that Wing Commander Arunakumar, a student of their school is now one of the elite pilots who will be flying the Rafale combat aircraft. He is an inspiration to future generations of the school.
