Mandya: Veteran actor and Congress MLA of Mandya Ambareesh reported his retirement from politics on Tuesday April 24. The Congress has now replaced him with Ganiga Ravikumar.
The retirement came close after he refused to challenge the upcoming Karnataka elections on Congress ticket from Mandya.
Addressing the media Ambareesh said “I have chosen not to challenge any elections as I am unwell,”
“I am not disheartened by it. I never feel sad. As I am unwell, I campaign. The word ‘rebel’ is in my name, I have not looked for any assistance from anybody. It is false news that I went to KPCC president Dr Parameshwara’s home looking for ticket,” he said.
He likewise said that three political parties have welcomed him to go along with them, yet he won’t. “I never looked for ticket to challenge this race. Give whoever a chance to challenge from Mandya, I can’t go for campaigning. I have been recognized as ‘Mandya’s son’. I will never leave this place,” he said.
He likewise made it clear that regardless of whether Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were to ask for him to campaign, he would not do it.
