Belagavi:  The state assembly on Friday, December 14 saw the discussion of the Bagar Hukum land bill, and this bill has been approved, and it is said that committees will be formed with legislators being ahead of it to dispose the land to the farmers according to Land Revenue Act 1964.

Bagar Hukum is a government land which has been illegally cultivated by farmers and the title for the land is yet to be disposed of. Now it is proposed to extend Akrama – Sakrama scheme by two more years for disposing off the remaining applications

In the absence of R V Deshpande, Krishna Byre Gowda discussed the need for passing the bill and he explained that there are 9,937 applications submitted in form No. 50 and 1, 84,329 applications in form No. 53 and these bills are pending to dispose off in the state for regularization of encroached land.

He further informed that the deadline for disposal of applications ended in April this year and therefore, an amendment needs to be brought to the law to enable the formation of Bagar Hukum Committee chaired by MLAs.

The winter session of Karnataka State Assembly has already begun in Belagavi from December 10 and numerous issues have been already discussed in last five days.
