American woman paid money for Rs 1.6 crore-villa owned by auto-driver

Bengaluru: Days after an autorickshaw driver came under IT scanner for possessing a Rs 1.6 crore-villa in an elite gated society in Whitefield, it has now emerged that an American woman had given Subramani the money to buy the villa.

The woman, Lara Evison (72) has produced all related documents in connection with the transaction before the IT officials, said a source.

According to sources in the I-T Department, Lara Evinson became acquainted with Subramani in 2006. She had initially met him on a rainy day when she was struggling to find transportation and Subramani had helped her. Later she would call him whenever she needed transportation to move around the city. She was staying in Bengaluru till 2010. Apart from money for the house, Lara is also helping with education-related expenses of his two kids, they added.
