Amit Shah promises probe into scams

Bengaluru: BJP National President Amit Shah concluded the party’s election campaign with a press conference in Bengaluru on Thursday where he declared that if the party comes to power, it would conduct fresh inquiries into all the alleged scams of the Siddaramaiah government, including the Arkavathi Layout denotification scam. “We will ensure that every paisa of the people of Karnataka, which has been taken away owing to mismanagement and scams, is recovered,” he promised.

He confidently stated that the BJP would win with a “comfortable majority”, so that there is no question of aligning with other parties to form the government. He said that the Congress practised politics of caste and appeasement and requested people to replace it with the BJP that practises politics of performance. He requested people to vote for his party so that the glory of Karnataka could be restored.

He criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for bringing up the issues of Karnataka only at the time of the elections and wondered if he was really interested in promoting Kannada, because the CM only announced the celebration of Tipu Jayanthi and not of any other Kannada icon.

Shah also crushed the rumours of controversial mining baron Janardhan Reddy’s involvement with the BJP. Earlier, BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate B.S. Yeddyurappa had declared in a rally that Reddy was one of the strengths of the party. Shah also denied Rahul Gandhi’s allegations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had indulged in repeated personal attacks on the Gandhi family. He said that the PM might have made a small statement about the matter during his campaign, which was being blown out of proportion by the media.
