Amit Shah promises to build areca nut research centre in Karnataka

Chickmagaluru: BJP National President Amit Shah promised of building up an areca nut research center in the state worth Rs.500 crores if BJP comes to power.
Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, Shah stated, “As of now the Central government has favored the local areca nut growers with 100 per cent import duty. Alongside that, a global coffee sales centre will be set up in Chikkamagaluru – the origination of Indian coffee. People from all stages who grow coffee will be out of troubles with suitable schemes,” he said.
“In the state, in most recent five years 3,700 farmers committed suicide. Instances of farmer suicide cases have increased by 173% in the state while it has decreased by 32% in BJP-ruled state Maharashtra. The Siddaramaiah government has completely ignored the farmers,” Shah included.
