‎Amrit Mahotsav celebrations: No flag hoisting at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Gangavati‎ draws ire of parents

‎Gangavati:‎‎ Kendriya Vidyalaya here has chosen to defy the orders by not hoisting the national flag on its premises even as the Central and state governments have issued circulars for hoisting the tricolor compulsorily at every school from 6 am to 5.35 am every day between August 13 to 15, during the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

Angry parents of students at the school alleged that the school authorities did not unfurl the flag on August 13 till 8 am on August 14. Meanwhile, at MNM Girls’ Government Pre-University College Lions Club and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad School, which are situated close to Kendriya Vidyalaya, the national flag was seen unfurled from 6 am on August 13 and 14.

Notably, the Kendriya Vidyalaya, which comes under the central government, hoists the national flag every weekday except on weekends.

When all government and semi-government organizations are hoisting flags on all three days under orders, Kendriya Vidyalaya had blatantly disregarded rules, parents alleged.

‎When asked about the non-adherence to the order, Rangappa, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, said that the blunder happened because he was busy preparing for the game’s tournament on Saturday and assured to hoist the national flag on Sunday on time.‎

Tehsildar Nagaraj told Udayavani that it was compulsory for government organizations to hoist the national flag as per government orders. He assured to take necessary action against erring school officials, after a thorough probe. “A notice will be issued to the head of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Gangavathi,” he added.
