Andrew Martis murder case: Two accused sentenced to life imprisonment

Udupi: Two persons who have been arrested in connection to the murder of Andrew Martis (60), have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the judge of the chief district and sessions court here.
The arrested accused were Rajendra Nayak (49), a resident of Gundupade of Pernankila village and Santhosh Poojary(41), a resident of Kattingeri Chakrabettu Mane.
Mr Martis was an alcoholic and used to create minor ruckus in the wine shop. He also used to abuse the accused Santhosh’s mother under intoxication.
On January 25, 2019, Rajendra and Santhosh got Martis totally drunk and then took him to the forest in Takadabail, Kattingeri in Kaup taluk. They then strangled him to death. Andrew Martis’s corpse was found in the forest at Edmeru Takadebailu of Moodubelle.
