Puttur: Activists of the pro-Hindu organizations shouted slogans against the ministers and BJP leaders who had arrived for the funeral of slain BJYM executive committee member Praveen Nettaru on Wednesday afternoon.
Members of various Hindu organizations had gathered in large numbers in Bellare. Ministers Sunil Kumar, S Angara, BJP state vice president Nalin Kumar Kateel, and MLAs Sanjiva Mathandur and Harish Poonja, who had also arrived for paying their last respects, faced the ire of the angry crowd.
The crowd gathered expressed its indignation at the government’s behavior and shouted in defiance. They were demanding strict action against the culprits.
Amidst the outrage of thousands of people, the BJP leaders found no words to pacify the crowd.
As the situation turned for the worse, police resorted to a light lathi charge to disperse the crowd.
