Anjana murder case: Victim had married the accused at a temple

Mangaluru: Apparently, Sandeep Rathod (23) who has been arrested for the murder of Anjana Vasist (22), had married the latter at a temple in the city a few days before the crime, stated a press reales from the police department.
On June 7th, Anjana was found dead in her room on the first floor of Pais Cottage in Attavar. It is said that after a heated exchange of words and her refusal to his marriage proposal, led Sandeep to murder her through strangulation.
Sandep was arrested from a lodge in Sindgi on Saturday, produced before the jurisdictional magistrate and has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
The press note from the police department further clarifies that the victim and the accused grew close to each other a year ago following conversations n Facebook. The two met on several occasions and one day. Married at Kadri temple without informing their families or friends. They later stayed at different lodges and then finally moved to the room in Attavar on June 2nd.
The murder accused Rathod had completed physical examination for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police and was preparing for the theory exam. On June 3rd, Anjana’s parents brought up the subject of her marriage when she had returned to her native Chikkamagaluru, which she later informed Rathod who asked her to return to his room.
On June 7th, after a heated exchange of words between the couple, the accused dragged the girl to the corner of the room and murdered her via strangulation using a wire.
