Ankola: Railway staff’s quick thinking averts major train accident

A major train disaster was averted thanks to the alertness and dedication of a railway staff member in the Harwada Railway Station area of Ankola taluk on Wednesday, October 9.
Chhatrapati Anand Gowda, a senior trackman at Harwada Station, has been widely appreciated by railway officials for his timely response and commitment to duty.
At 4:49 AM, Chhatrapati noticed that a portion of the railway track was broken due to a technical fault and immediately alerted the officials through the station master, thus preventing a potentially disastrous accident.
In recognition of his efforts, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited’s senior divisional officer from Madgaon, AEN, visited Harwad and honored Chhatrapati Anand Gowda.
Karwar SSE Sheshagiri, Kumta Station JE Pankaj, Harwada Station Master Shetty, and various operating, engineering, and signal personnel from Harwada Station were also present during the felicitation.
