Annual ‘Kodial Teru’: Sea of people throng Car Street

Mangaluru: Thousands of people visited Lord Venkatarama temple in the city on the occasion of the annual ‘Kodial Teru’ celebrated by the GSB community here on Tuesday February 12. .
The sacred event was celebrated by the devotees by paying obeisance to the presiding deity, partaking in the ‘Prasadam’ by way of community feast and felt blessed by the six-day event. This time, the spiritual head of Kashi Math, Sri Samyamindrateertha Swamiji took part in the occasion only increasing its grandeur. The grand event will be culminating today.
Following prayers and Panchamrut Abhisheka at 9 amin the morning on Tuesday, rituals like Pulakabhisheka, Kanakabhisheka, Gangabhisheka, Poorvaka Mahabhisheka and Shatakalashabisheka were conducted. Later the Lord’s idol was brought to the Yajna Mantap for the oblation where Poornahuti and Arathi were performed.
In the evening around 5 pm, Puja was performed to the elaborately decorated chariot of the Lord seated on the chariot which was pulled around at midnight.
Culmination
The annual celebration end today and hence ‘Avabhrutotsava’ also known as Okuli will be held. a procession of the Lord’s idol in golden palanquin will be taken out following a variety of pujas including oblations. People accompanying the palanquin customarily spray coloured water at each other.
