Udupi: After the Jupiter-Saturn planetary conjunction and, days later, the Geminid meteor shower, another celestial event will be occuring in the skies above the district.

The Quadrantid meteor shower started on December 28 and will continue to be visible till January 12. The Quadrantids are one of the three meteor showers that occur in a year.

After this, the next meteor shower, the Perseids, will be visible in August 2021.

The meteor shower will be visible at 3 am on January 3.

“The meteorites will be visible on the eastern night sky. They will appear from the north of the Arcturus star. About 100 meteorites will pass in an hour,” said Dr AP Bhat, the retired head of physics department of Purnaprajnya College.
