Mangaluru: A man undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city has filed an atrocity complaint against the police for allegedly barging into the hospital room thus causing mental harassment to him and his family members.
The complainant K Ashraf (53) had sustained injuries during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests on December 19 and was admitted to Unity Hospital for treatment.
In his complaint, lodged with Mangaluru East police Ashraf alleged that though doctors had barred visitors, the police personnel, around five of them, knocked on the door of their hospital room at around 1 am on December 26. They then barged their way inside, made a video of the room and left. The incident left us mentally shocked, he alleged.
Ashraf has sought action against the police personnel for violating their privacy and mentally harassing him and his family members by video graphing our room in a threatening manner.
As Ashraf is not in a position to visit the station personally he despatched the compliant via post with copies of the same also marked to the home minister of Karnataka government, president of Human Rights Commission, Bengaluru and IG and DGP of Karnataka state, stationed in Bengaluru.
