Mumbai: Ranvir Singh starrer ‘Gully Boy’ crashed out of Oscars race after Academy unveiled top 10 movies in the best foreign film category. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri took jibe on this and tweeted, “This embarrassment happened because.. Grandmother Aparna Sen chose a copy over original films.”
Along with his tweet, he also added a photo of an article that mentioned about Gully Boy being inspired by American film 8 Mile. Vivek also mocked the head of the jury selection of Oscar entry, Aparna Sen in his tweet.

After Gully Boy failed to make it to the Oscars, the film’s producer Farhan Akhtar said, “We are disappointed that this film didn’t make it to the shortlist but grateful that we had the opportunity to compete. Best of luck to the films that have made it through.”
Apparently, people had started comparing Gully Boy even before its release to Eminem starer ‘8 Mile’ which is about the underground rap music in the 90s. Many film enthusiasts have pointed out the similarities between these two film.
