Apex Court to Setup Board to Solve, Manage Cauvery Water Issues

New Delhi/Bengaluru: In a setback to Karnataka state government, Supreme Court has stated that a Cauvery Management Board should be formed to solve all water issues related to Cauvery water dispute. In verdict, three member bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra on Wednesday said it would form rules and regulations to setup the board and the Apex Court will form the board once rules and regulations setup.  

The proposed board will act other water boards of the country including Narmada, Krishna Water Management Boards. The Apex Court has also rejected union government’s argument which stated the formation and implementation of the board is the sole responsibility of the central government. The Supreme Court has also said the central government should follow the orders of the Apex Court inconnection with the Cauvery dispute and the board to be setup.
