Mangaluru: Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance and senior Congress leader Dr M Veerappa Moily, has demanded an apology from Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for ‘false allegations’ against him.

On Tuesday, Nalin had blamed Moliy for clearing passage of merger of Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda. He had said that the NDA government had only forward a decision taken by previous UPA government.

In a letter to Nalin Kumar Kateel, Moily wrote, “Your allegations are far from truth. I have not petitioned for Vijaya Bank merger with any other bank.”

“You have the name ‘Kateel’ attached to your name. Remember that name is that of a holy land. By spreading false charges, you yourself are maligning your own name. In spite of being an MP, without reading reports like an illiterate you have put allegations against me. You need to apologise for your comments,” demanded Moily.
