Arate bridge is safe, says Udupi DC after cracks appear on upper layer

Kundapura: Days after a vertical crack developed on the newly built bridge at Arate on NH 66, Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha informed that bridge is safe for use and necessary repair works will be undertaken.
A report submitted by experts mentions that the cracks have developed on the surface and that the bridge is safe, the DC said.
The bridge, across the Souparnika, was built by IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited and the company has promised to carry out the repair works.
On Saturday, cracks had appeared on the bridge whereafter the police diverted traffic on the old bridge at Arate-Hosadu.
