Areca nut tree claims labourer’s life

Kollur: A labourer lost his when an areca nut tree fell on him while working on the reconstruction of the lake of Mallikarjuna Temple at Kukkada in Edur village.  Although he was rushed to Kundapur government hospital, he lost his battle for life along the way.

According to the complaint by Mahabala Shetty who is working in the lake reconstruction project, apparently a coconut tree in the premises of the temple, which was leaning towards one side uprooted and fell on a nearby areca nut tree, which broke due to the impact and fell on Suresh Shetty (50), who was working there. The broken arecanut tree inflicted grievous injures on Mr Shetty which soon claimed his life.

Kollur police have registered a case in this regard.
