Puttur: Followers and supporters of Arun Kumar Puthila, who had been a strong aspirant for the BJP ticket from Puttur, are outraged about his missing a ticket to contest the Assembly elections.
In the first list announced by the BJP on Tuesday, Asha Thimmappa Gowda has been named as the party’s candidate for Puttur Constituency, effectively snubbing the aspirations of Arun Puthila, an influential local leader of Hindu organizations.
In this context, his supporters have reportedly called an emergency meeting in Puttur on Wednesday.
Asha Thimmappa Gowdais a native of Kuntur village of Kadaba taluk. She had earlier elected a member of the Bellare and Nelyadi gram panchayats. She has also served as a gram panchayat president.
It is said that the nomination of an ‘outsider’ has further irked Arun Puthila’s supporters.
