Mysuru: As it is the first Friday of the Ashada (an auspicious month in the Hindu calendar), the Chamundi Hills of the “Palace City” observed a massive inflow of devotees, thronging to get a glimpse of Goddess Chamundeshwari.
Special pujas began in the early hours of Friday with Vedic chants by the purohits. Offerings like Rudraabhishekam, Panchaamrata Abhishekam, and others were offered to the Goddess. The Goddess was decorated in the avatar of Goddess Lakshmi.
According to the reports, the footfall of devotees was high because it was two years after Covid restrictions that the devotees could offer prayers to the Goddess during the auspicious month.
Taking note of devotees coming in large numbers, the temple administration has arranged for 20 LED screens outside the temple. The north and south doors of the temple have been opened along with a three-line queue system to ensure smooth movement of the crowd. CCTV cameras and lighting facilities have been arranged along the stairs of the hill. Arrangements for the distribution of prasadam have also been made.
The temple will be open from 3 AM to 9.30 PM, during which the Mysuru Traffic Police have restricted any private vehicle movement to the hilltop. The district administration has arranged for buses from the foothill at Lalit Mahal.
