Ashton Sequeira, arrested for idol theft is an NSUI leader

Mangaluru: Ashton Sequeira, who is part of the five arrested for stealing and attempted sale of four antiquated idols of Jain Tirthankars, worth crores of rupees is the district secretary of NUSI.

His photo with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, K.P.C.C. president Dr.G. Parameshwar and other important Congress leaders has gone viral on social networks.

Ashton Sequeira’s photo with Congress leaders MLA B.A. Moideen Bava, District In-Charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai, MLC Oscar Fernandes, former Union Minister Veerappa Moily, Mayor Kavitha Sanil and other prominent Congress leaders has gone viral.

When Kundapura Police were asked about Ashton Sequeira’s connection to an association like NSUI, they said,” We have no information about that. He has already been arrested for this crime and investigations are on.”

Kundapura Police nabbed Ashton and two others on Saturday for stealing and attempt to sell four antique Jain Thirtankara statues near Koteshwara Kotilingeshwara Temple in Kundapura.
