Assam man purchases scooter with sack full of coins

Dispur: A businessman, hailing from Assam is in the news after he fulfilled his dream of buying a two-wheeler recently. You may wonder what is so unique about this. Well, he paid Rs 22,000 of the downpayment amount in coins for the scooter.

Hafijur who runs a small shop had saved coins and finally bought a scooter Avenis Special Edition from a dealer named Alpana Suzuki in the Barpeta district of Assam.

“I run a small shop and whenever young kids buy chips or chocolates, I used to save the coins. It took me years to save these coins and I accumulated enough to save Rs 22,000 which was my down-payment. I thank the dealers for understanding my issue,” Hafijur Akand told TimesNow.

While Hafijur has taken a loan for the balance amount of the scooter priced at Rs 1 lakh.

As per the report, Hafijur was actually glancing at the scooter and observing it from afar when one of the employees of the dealer approached him. “He was apprehensive at first. He expressed his desire to buy the scooter but was doubtful whether anyone will take his coins,” said Kankan Das, sales manager of the dealer.

Many employees of the vehicle dealer’s office had come together to count the coins and it took hours to finally estimate the total amount. Hafijur’s humble intentions to buy the scooter have motivated the locals of the area.
