Mangaluru/Udupi: Outpatient services in private hospitals and nursing homes in the city will observe a 24-hour shutdown i.e from 6 am on Friday to 6 am on Saturday to condemn the alleged assault on doctors of Minto Eye Hospital in Bengaluru.
In-patient and outpatient services at Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru and Udupi district hospital would be available as usual.
The doctors of the Minto Eye Hospital are on a strike since Friday last protesting the alleged attack of a colleague by members of a pro-Kannada outfit.
Condeming the attack on the doctors IMA Mangaluru branch President Dr Annaiah Kulal Ulthoor and his Udupi branch counterpart, Dr Umesh Prabhu said that he functioning of OPDs of private hospitals has been suspended on Friday. However doctors will provide emergency services duly wearing back bands, they added.
