Assault on woman, JD(S) leader arrested

Bengaluru: The police have arrested a JD (S) leader on Tuesday for assaulting a lady and threatening to kill her.

The accused have been identified as Narayana, resident of Mahalakshmi Layout, North Bengaluru. He is the general secretary of the party’s state backward class’s wing. The lady is Narayana’s relative.

Narayana was held based on a complaint lodged by the lady. In the complaint, she said that on February 16, when she was bringing her child from tuitions, he picked a fight with her and dragged her in the middle of the street. He also assaulted her and misbehaved with her. He also struck a passerby who came forward to rescue the lady. Narayana threatened to kill her if she went to the police.

The motive for the assault is yet to be ascertained.
