ATM guard tied up; Robbery done like in movies!

Padubidri: A robbery has come to light after robbers tied up an ATM guard and proceeded to rob Dhanalakshmi Jewelers and a mobile shop nearby on the wee hours of Sunday around 1 am, September 2nd.
The robbers successfully made off with silver worth Rs. 40,000 from Dhanalakshmi Jewelers and 25 mobiles worth Rs. 1.8 lakh from Evergreeen Mobile shop.
Incident synopsis
During the midnight, a group of 5-6 robbers had gained access into Dhanalakshmi Jewelers which is located on the lower side of Padubidri market. When the group was preparing for the robbery, they saw the guard at the nearby Karnataka Bank ATM .
They overpowered the guard, stuffed his mouth with cloth, took him behind the building and tied him in the seating position to a jackfruit tree there. Later, the broke the locks of both the shops and carried out their robbery.
Got frightened thinking it was a ghost
Early in the morning, a local identified as Suresh Acharya had gone on paper line when he heard a low scream from behind the tree. Thinking it was a ghost, Suresh fled along with his two-wheeler.
Later Suresh accompanied by Sudhakar Moily, a local came to the tree equipped with a torch light and found the ATM guard muffled and tied up to the tree. He was immediately freed from his bondage and a police complaint was filed. It was only then that the robbery came to light. A case has been registered with Padubidri police.
