Attack on woman at Puttenahalli: 2 accused arrested

Bengaluru: Puttenahalli Police has arrested two accused on charges of assaulting a woman who resisted their attempt to snatch her gold chain.
The accused have been identified as Manoj Kumar (25) and Franklin (21), both residents of Kolageri in Adugodi.
The incident took place on March 6, around 9 pm when the victim, identified as Sarojamma was returning home after visiting a temple. The accused, who were riding a bike, allegedly chased Sarojamma near Puttenahalli lake and tried to grab her gold chain. When Sarojamma resisted, the accused reportedly her with a weapon and escaped from the spot.
Sarojamma received injuries on her hands in the incident and is recovering in the hospital. The police said that the accused were arrested on the basis of examining the CCTV footage around the incident site.
Police said that among the two arrested, Manoj Kumar has a criminal background with cases of murder and attempt to murder registered against him earlier. The criminal background check of the other accused, Franklin, is underway, they added.
A case has been registered at Puttenahalli police station.
