Attavar: Young lady found dead; murder suspected

Mangaluru: A corpse of a lady was found in a house at Attavar in the city on Friday June 7th. The deceased is identified as Anjana Vasista (22), daughter of Manjunatha Y N from Tarikere near Chikkamagaluru. The victim was identified based on the Aadhaar card in her possession.

According to the available information, the victim had come to the house at Attavar on June 2 accompanied by a young man who took room for rent for a short term. The young man had informed that he had come to Mangaluru to write a competitive exam and the girl accompanying him was his wife. Believing this to be a fact since the couple appeared decent, the landlord gave them the house on rent.

The murder

On June 7th, Anjana had left the house and returned back with some grocery. However, in the evening she was found as a corpse, murdered and her companion missing. The victim was found lying on the bed with her head trapped in between the rods of the cot. There is a suspicion that she might have been killed by unknown people.

 

Meanwhile, it is also leant that the victim’s debit card had been used and an amount of Rs 15,000 was withdrawn from two ATMs on June 7 afternoon.

Police are investigating the case.
