B C Road: Raid on recreation club; more than 130 persons arrested

Bantwal: The police arrested more than 130 people during a raid on a recreational club located at a tourist home and in a nearby building in the heart of Bantwal town on Sunday April 14th. Many mobiles and a huge cache of cash was seized during the raid.
The raid was conducted under the leadership of Bantwal sub division ASP Saidul Adavat by Bantwal town police SI Chandrashekhar, rural SI Prasanna and staffs.
In the evening around 5pm, police launched a simultaneous raid on both the buildings. Though some of the accused attempted to run away from the tourist home were caught along the way. Few others were caught after their escape was delayed by the lift.
It is learnt that both the clubs were managed by separate persons.
The action was taken in the backdrop of receiving several complaints regarding gambling taking place at the club which was functioning with the permit as a recreational club, inform the police.
The inspection ran late into the night with the gathering and documentation of the evidence and counting of the seized money. A case has been registered at Bantwal town police station. The accused were provided bail on personal bond.

During the raid, those within the building threw out the money and seeing money fluttering and falling to the ground, scores of people gathered to collet it. Amidst this, the police tried to recover the money from the public. While a few gave it back, several others made off with the money. Later the group was chased.
