Backhoe operator dies after falling into a septic tank

Bantwal: A JCB operator lost his life after he accidentally fell into a septic tank at Parlotti of Netmudnoor village of Vitla near here on Thursday July 11.
The deceased is identified as Rajesh (30), son of Rama Safalya, a resident of Mittoor Bollaramajalu of Idkidu village.
Rajesh had been hired to level the land belonging to a person of Parlotti and in the process, while walking over the old septic tank located in the land, it collapsed and swallowed Rajesh. The victim died because of asphyxiation due to the sewage water filled in the pit.
The incident came to light only after the mobile of the deceased was found ringing continuously outside the pit for some time. The people from the neighbouring houses came to the spot curious on why the phone was ringing only to find Rajesh fallen into the pit, dead.
Puttur fire service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the corpse from the pit. A case has been registered with Vitla police and further investigation is being conducted.
