In a tragic incident, two students drowned while swimming in a temple pond in Baindur town.

The deceased have been identified as Nagendra (13) son of Krishna, a resident of Yojana Nagar and Mohammad Shafaan (13), son of Shanu Shalian, who lives near the railway station.

Both boys were in the 9th grade at a government high school. After finishing their exams and lunch, they went to the pond to swim. However, due to heavy rain, the incident was not immediately noticed. Their bicycles, clothes, and footwear were found near the pond, raising alarm. Search operations were launched, and their bodies were recovered early Wednesday morning.

The pond is a regular spot for swimmers, but no one had visited on Tuesday, according to locals. Neither of the boys knew how to swim well, which likely led to the tragic accident
