Bajpe: Two held in cattle theft cases

Bajpe police on Thursday arrested two persons in connection with incidents of cattle theft reported from Karkala, Ajekaru, Bajegoli, Kerwase, and Thirthahalli areas.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Sharif (23) from  Moodbidri Taluk and Hasainar (28) from Thodar village. A Hyundai car worth five lakh rupees was seized from their possession.

Acting on reliable information regarding a white car plying suspiciously near Mucharu cross, Bajpe police inspector Sandeep directed PSI Revanasiddappa and other team personnel to intercept the vehicle. Two persons were apprehended while another fled the scene.

The accused confessed to the theft of two cows and a calf from a house at Thiplabettu in Badaga Yedapadav. They informed that they sold the stolen cattle to Ansar, a resident of Thodar village.

The stolen cattle reportedly belonged to Sujatha, a resident of Thiplabettu. Bajpe police have registered a case in this regard.
