Mangaluru: The man who was driving the BMW involved in the horrific accident at Ballalbagh on Saturday, has been booked under section 308 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

IPC Section 308 deals with and lays down punishment for “attempt to commit culpable homicide.”

Meanwhile, the accused has been produced before the court, which has remanded him to police custody for 3 days.

The BMW car that lost control hit the median, went over to the other side of the road, and collided with an oncoming scooter and two cars. A woman has been critically injured after being hit. The accident had drawn public outrage after the CCTV video grab of the incident had gone viral on social media.

Police said that they are waiting for the medical report to find if the driver was under the influence of alcohol or any other drugs. Investigations are still underway in the case, they added.
