Kampli: Over 26 students fell ill after consuming their midday meal at Honalli Siddappanavar Government Higher Primary School in Metri village, Kampli taluk, in which pieces of a house lizard (gecko) were reportedly found.

The affected students have been admitted to the Kampli Community Health Centre for treatment.

Upon hearing about the incident, MLA J.N. Ganesh visited the health center to inquire about the students’ well-being. He held discussions with the doctors, instructing them to ensure special care for the students. Additionally, he directed health officials to deploy more doctors to the village.

Speaking to reporters, the MLA expressed deep regret, stating, “Such incidents have never occurred in our taluk before. This unfortunate situation is due to the negligence of those responsible for meal preparation. The education department must take notice of this and take appropriate action against those at fault.”
