Ballari: A transgender individual has been appointed as a guest lecturer at Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University’s postgraduate center in Nandihalli.

Renuka Poojari (formerly known as Mallesh K.), a native of Kurugodu in Ballari district, has been appointed to this prestigious position, marking the first such appointment of a transgender lecturer at a university in Karnataka.

Renuka completed her undergraduate studies at Kurugodu Degree College and pursued her Master’s degree in Kannada from the Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University campus.

Her appointment as a guest lecturer has been widely appreciated as a significant step toward inclusivity and representation in the academic field.
