Bengaluru: during the 53rd annual convocation of Bangalore University, the University students stage a protest for not getting their medals.

More than hundred toppers who bagged gold medals and rank certificates were in rage when they were told that they would be awarded cash prizes and certificates instead of gold medal. Many students threatened to return the cash prize and the certificates back to the University.

The students who bagged gold medal were given cash prize of Rs.500.

Sujith C. from Sheshadripuram College was at first told that he would receive gold a medal, but later was denied the honour.

The officials blamed the scarcity of funds as the reason for the arrangements. The Vice-Chancellor in charge of Bangalore University said that that committee had decided to withdraw some gold medals where the amount given by the donor was less.

In addition, the certificates of the students did not mention their achievements. The University authorities have stated that the certificates will be corrected and the achievements of the students will be mentioned.
