Banhatti: The President of the Banhatti Lawyers Association, Basavaraj Pattani, has demanded the taluk administration to reopen pharmacies in Rabkavi Banhatti.
He opined that authorities have permitted liquor shops but has forced drug shops to stay shut.
He added that people are struggling to get medicines. The Jan Aushadhi Kendra, which benefits the poor, is also closed because of which medicines costing Rs 300-400 are now being bought at Rs 1,000. Some of them have to go to Mahalingapura and other towns to get medicines.
Another senior advocate, Vijaya Hogar, stated that medical shops should be allowed to open with necessary precautions. Drugs cannot be delivered to home as other items, hence the taluk administration should permit medical shops to be open at least for a short time in a day.
