Bantwal: 13-year-old boy drowns in Netravati river

A young boy lost his life while swimming in the Netravati River near Nechchabettu, close to Kadeshivalaya, on Saturday, April 20.

The victim has been identified as Suhail, aged 13, the son of local resident Saheer. Suhail was a student at Kemman Palike School and had recently completed 7th grade.

According to reports, the unfortunate incident occurred while Suhail and his friends had attended a wedding and ventured to the nearby river for a swim.

According to locals, local youths playing cricket on a nearby ground rushed to the river after hearing shouts from the river bank. They managed to retrieve Suhail from the river, but tragically, he had already breathed his last.

The body was taken to Bantwal Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Bantwala Rural Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
