Bantwal: 37-year-old labourer dies after being hit by train

Bantwal: A daily wage laborer died after being hit by a train at Marnabailu near BC Road around 7.30 am on February 5.

The deceased, Harishchandra (37), originally from Madantyar Pankaje, was residing in a rented house at Marnabailu Dasaragudde under Sajipamunur Gram Panchayat.

According to locals, the train might have struck Harishchandra when he was crossing the railway tracks on his way to work. He sustained serious injuries and succumbed on the spot.

Railway track work staff promptly informed Mangaluru Railway Police after the incident.

ASI John Kuriakose of the Railway Police arrived at the scene and transported the deceased’s body to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.

ASI Devappa and the staff of the Hoysala 112 vehicle also reached the spot upon receiving information about the incident.
