In a move reflecting its core political strategy, the Congress has allied with the SDPI to gain control of the Bantwal Municipal Council. This partnership, according to Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, sends a clear message to society about the Congress’s alliances.
Speaking to reporters after the election of the Bantwal Municipal Council President and Vice President, MP Brijesh Chowta remarked, “We have long asserted that the Congress and SDPI are aligned. This election has once again proven who the Congress truly stands with. The Congress has openly aligned with the SDPI, the political wing of the PFI, betraying the people of Bantwal.”
Chowta further criticized the local Congress leadership, stating, “Under the patronage of Ramanath Rai, the Bantwal Congress has now been reduced to a position where it must rely on the mercy of the SDPI.”
Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippadyguttu, Bantwal BJP President R. Chennappa Kotyan, BJP members of the municipal council, and other party leaders were present during the press interaction.
