Bantwal: Robbers looted a house after tying up and gagging an elderly woman at Maninalkur village in Bantwal rural police station limits on Saturday, March 26.

The robbery took place at the house of Sesappa Naik in Tandalke in Maninalkur village. At the time of the incident, Sesappa Naik and his wife Prema had gone to watch a folk play leaving his elderly mother at the house. The robbers gained entry into the house by breaking the locked front door.

The robbers threatened to kill the old lady. They tied up the woman and stuffed a cloth into her mouth to prevent her from screaming for help. Thereafter, they ransacked the house and took away the gold jewelry.

The incident came to light when Sesappa returned to the house at 2.30 AM. A complaint was registered in this regard at the Bantwal police station.

It is alleged that the robbers stole gold ornaments weighing around 34 grams, including a ring, chain, and a pair of earrings.
