Bantwal: Floods wreak havoc as Netravati river overflows in Panemangalore

Continuous heavy rainfall has caused the water level of Netravati river to rise significantly, leading to a devastating flood situation in the Aladka part of Panemangalore.

The region is witnessing inundation, leaving several houses submerged and compelling residents to evacuate their homes and shift their belongings to safer locations.

As of the latest reports, the water level in Bantwal has surged to 7.5 meters, and the floodwaters have engulfed not only the low-lying areas but also the surrounding ground and nut plantations in Panemangalore.

The situation remains critical as authorities fear that if the water level rises another meter, it will breach the flood risk level, further exacerbating the catastrophe.

In response to the emergency, care centers have been promptly established to provide refuge for the victims in the neighboring regions. Sharada High School and Bantwala Nireekshana Mandir in Panemangalore have been transformed into temporary shelters for those displaced by the floods.
